What does an NDVI field health map actually tell you?
What NDVI actually shows, what it can't, and how to turn a stress map into a scouting route. Free from the FieldCommandCenter agronomy team.
The short answer
A satellite health map shows where the canopy is different, not why. It's a scouting director, not a diagnosis: let it point you to the worst 10% of the field, then put boots (or a drone) on that exact spot.
The map is most trustworthy mid-season over a closed canopy, and least trustworthy over bare soil, young crops, and hazy skies.
